RX-4 MRX Module Interface
RX-4 MRX Module Interface

The RX-4 is an interface to convert Zaxcom’s MRX214 and MRX414 receiver modules into stand-alone receivers.

VERSATILITY

The MRX414 broke new ground as the first receiver to receive audio from four separate transmitters. Now with the RX-4, the MRX414 can be used as a standalone portable receiver outside of a host unit, making the combo a great way to get started with the Zaxcom Digital Recording Wireless ecosystem.
The RX-4 is an affordable and invaluable accessory, increasing the versatility of the MRX so it can be used as a stand-alone receiver in addition to its use in a Nova or an RX-12, etc. allowing for your system to expand as your needs grow.

DESIGN

The RX-4’s intelligent design includes two OLED displays to easily visually monitor data from up to 4 separate transmitters. There are four tricolor LEDs to indicate the decode status of each of the 4 receive channels and push buttons for simple navigation of menus.

Connectivity

The audio and power connectors are located directly behind the control panel of RX-4 so cables can be conveniently attached without taking apart the sound bag. The audio output interface is via two TA5 connectors, either digital out via two AES3 connections or balanced line-level analog out. Power is connected via a 4-pin Hirose.

Cable wiring is the same across the entire line of Zaxcom receivers for easy integration.

CHANNEL COUNT

The RX-4 can receive 4 channels of audio from up to four transmitters when used with an MRX414. It can receive up to 4 channels of audio from two transmitters when used with an MRX214.

RF PERFORMANCE

The RX-4 has a brand-new dual-track-tuned front-end filter with a 44 MHz tuning window. There’s also an internal passive filter making it impossible to overload the RX-4, this means increased range, no intermodulation, and no interference from walkie-talkies and mobile phones.

RF SCAN & RE-FREQ

The RX-4 can scan the entire frequency range, and re-freq all 4 receivers instantly to avoid localized interference at new locations. Receivers can be used anywhere in the frequency range of the RX-4 but need to be within the 44 MHz window of the tuned front-end filter.

Frequency Range

The RX-4 is available in two frequency ranges:
RX-4L – covers Blocks 20 – 23 (512-614 MHz)
RX-4H – covers Blocks 23 – 26 (598-698 MHz)

Power

The RX-4 consumes no power, it runs off the module and produces no additional heat. The MRX414 consumes only 350ma when all four channels are active.
