POMPTON PLAINS, N.J. — Feb. 29, 2008 — Zaxcom, a pioneering provider of professional audio equipment for the television and film industries, today announced that its Deva 5.8 hard-disk audio recorder was chosen as the winner in the Production category of the Cinema Audio Society (CAS) Fourth Annual Awards for Technical Achievement. The awards were announced in a sealed-envelope ceremony at the 44th Annual CAS Awards, held Saturday, Feb. 16, at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel in Los Angeles.
“It’s truly an honor to have our Deva 5.8 selected by the CAS as a top-in-class system for audio production,” said Glenn Sanders, President of Zaxcom. “Because nominations for these awards originate from the members of the Cinema Audio Society, we see this win as a testament to how much audio professionals have come to value our system in real-world applications day in and day out. We extend our sincere thanks for their recognition.”
The Deva 5.8 is the only professional audio recording system to provide complete recording, mixing and effects capabilities within one lightweight package. It features eight integrated hardware faders, an internal DVD-RAM drive and a flash media slot for a completely solid-state multitrack recording solution.
The Zaxcom Deva 5.8 records ten tracks of audio directly to a hard drive with simultaneous mirroring to either the internal DVD-RAM drive or a CompactFlash® memory card. Users can access both the DVD drive and memory card directly through the control panel for quick and easy transfer of material from the production site to Post Production staff. With its unique touch screen user interface, the Deva 5.8 provides operators with complete control over a range of functions, including channel routing and the ability to enter metadata without the use of external hardware.
