Pompton PlainsN.J. — April 12, 2012 — Zaxcom today announced a new addition to their mini-recorder family, the ZFR300.  With a longer run-time than the ZFR200, it was designed to act as an ultra-compact and lightweight replacement for wireless microphones.  The ZFR300 records on microSD™ cards and features an integrated SMPTE timecode reader/generator.

With a high-strength nylon polymer casing that provides water and corrosion resistance, the ZFR300 weighs 3.0 ounces. The unit can receive remote control and timecode signals via Zaxcom’s IFB100, the ZaxNet 2.4-GHz wireless network, or a manual timecode jam.  A timecode jam enables audio professionals to use any quantity of ZFR units in sync all day, with the integrated timecode generator ensuring one-frame accuracy over a six-hour period. The ZFR300 can output audio as either 24-bit/48-KHz timecode-stamped broadcast wave (.wav) files or timecode-stamped MP3 files. Each unit is powered with two AA battery with up to 12 hours of run time.

“Our new ZFR300 is an excellent tool for reality television, extreme sports and similar productions where the production team is faced with interference issues, poor RF range, or no available wireless frequencies, and the need for a good battery run time” said Glenn Sanders, Zaxcom’s president. “By recording directly to microSD cards on the bodypack, the ZFR300 is an excellent low-cost, light-weight replacement for wireless mics.”

The ZFR300 is available now for a list price of $995. More information about Zaxcom’s full line of audio gear is available at www.zaxcom.com.
