POMPTON PLAINS, N.J. — March 31, 2009 — Zaxcom, a pioneering provider of professional audio equipment, today announced a display screen upgrade for the company’s popular Deva and Fusion audio recording systems. Three times as bright as existing Deva displays, the new screen allows for easier control in any environment. The additional luminance allows audio professionals to view and adjust all of Deva settings — such as scene, take, note, and roll number metadata — quickly and easily, even in direct bright sunlight.
“Our audio recorders are used in a full range of applications, from feature film productions to on-the-go reality TV programming, and are almost always required to perform under extreme time pressure. We understand how crucial it is that our Deva and Fusion systems are as intuitive and user-friendly as possible, regardless of the environment,” said Glenn Sanders, Zaxcom’s President. “The new super-luminance display screen will help our customers respond more quickly to demands and changing conditions on the set. All new Deva and Fusion systems will now ship with this brighter display screen, and the upgrade is available to existing users as well.”
Zaxcom’s Deva family provides multi-disk, multi-track, multi-format recording on location, with automatic backup to DVD-RAM or CompactFlash®. With the ability to background-record multiple disks throughout a day, Deva users are able to save time in feature film and television productions by recording disk copies required for Post Production while the original recordings are being created. Production staff can reference previous recordings immediately on-set, thereby reducing potential conflicts with Post, while also safeguarding against lost, damaged or stolen material with automatically generated backup copies.
The Fusion audio recorder and mixer combines the strengths of the Deva’s feature set with low weight and superior power efficiency by eliminating the use of a hard drive, which additionally removes concerns of hard drive damage from extreme temperature or motion. The system records to two CompactFlash® cards simultaneously, ensuring 100 percent solid-state recording for purposes of redundancy and flexibility.
