Pompton Plains, NJ — October 5, 2018 — Zaxcom today announces that software v8.0 for the Nomad mixer/recorder is now available for download free of charge from the company’s website. Nomad’s eighth major update responds to user feedback to include a new feature for enhanced workflow, ZaxNet™ Audition and Re-record.

Nomad has been embraced by the sound community worldwide and is used in many different types of production applications. The addition of ZaxNet™ Audition and Re-record allows operators to instantly remix and re-record audio that has already been recorded to the Nomad using Zaxcom Digital Recording Wireless transmitters.

To take full advantage of this new feature, Zaxcom transmitters, such as the ZMT3 or TRXLA3, should have its internal microSD recording enabled. After an audio take has been recorded to Nomad, users can playback the sound from the transmitter’s internal recording to instantly remix or re-record the audio as if it was being heard for the first time.

What makes ZaxNet™ Audition and Re-record unique is it now eliminates possible RF interference or dropouts that may occur during wireless transmissions in a mix track. Additionally, an unlimited number of Zaxcom Digital Recording Wireless transmitters can be controlled by Nomad to replay audio with timecode.

ZaxNet™ Audition and Re-record also allows operators to remix any recording for an improved mix track whether a dropout occurs or not. This feature is functional even with talent still wearing the bodypack transmitter.

ZaxNet™ is a 2.4 GHz control and distribution network, incorporating timecode transmission, wireless microphone remote control and IFB audio transmission and comes standard on Nomad 10 or Nomad 12. Other ZaxNet™ features include remote transmitter gain control, transmitter frequency control, internal microSD recording control and PowerRoll™. The maximum control distance is over a range of up to 500 feet (152.4m).

ZaxNet™ Audition and Re-record is available on Zaxcom’s flagship Deva 24 mixer/recorder.
