The Fusion comes in two different models:

Fusion 10 is a 10-track recorder / 16 channel mixer. Fusion 10 has 8 mic or line level analog inputs and 6 analog outputs.

Fusion 12 is a 12-track recorder / 16 channel mixer. Fusion 12 has 8 mic or line level plus an additional 4 line level only analog inputs and 8 analog outputs.

The Fusion is a portable solid state recorder for film and television production.  It has 8 hardware faders and records simultaneously to two CompactFlash cards making it a complete solution for recording, mixing and effects in one package.

Each of the 8 digital outputs can be individually switched between output bus configuration and direct digital out.  The direct digital outputs allow input channels to be seamlessly routed to feed external backup recorders.

Fusion can mix 16 inputs to eight output busses and record up to ten tracks on the internal Compact Flash card.   The mixer has extensive routing capability: any input can be routed to any output pre- or post-fader, with or with phase inversion.  Each channel on the Fusion is equipped with EQ, notch filter, compressor and delay.

The Mix-8 and Mix-12 control surfaces are fully compatible with Fusion for an all digital location recording and mixing package.

Press Releases POMPTON PLAINS, N.J.  — Sept. 1, 2009 — At the IBC2009 show in Amsterdam, Zaxcom will launch ZaxNet, a 2.4-GHz RF network for the distribution of remote control signals, time code, IFB audio, and metadata for production sound. Zax-Net wirelessly links Zaxcom’s Deva/Fusion digital recording wireless encrypted IFB receivers, and compatible digital slates into a single system for audio recording and metadata distribution. The ZaxNet signal is generated by Zaxcom’s Deva or Fusion audio recorders/mixers and broadcast via a Zaxcom IFB100 wireless transmitter on a 2.4-GHz signal. IFB audio, time code, metadata, and wireless remote control commands are then received by Zaxcom’s ERX series IFB receivers and TRX series digital wireless transceivers. The network can wirelessly distribute scene and take metadata for automatic display on any compatible digital slate connected to an ERX2 receiver. When the clapper is activated, the slate will automatically display the correct timecode and metadata as entered through a Deva or Fusion unit and distributed via the ZaxNet networking working automatically in the background. Another ZaxNet feature is its unique, patent-pending ability to synchronize any number of Zaxcom wireless transmitters for timecode-referenced playback, enabling a take to be rerecorded by a Deva or Fusion unit. This will give the production sound mixer the ability to remix a take in the event that the original recording needs to be changed for any reason. As a bonus, RF interference can be eliminated in the retransmission and remix of the audio tracks. “ZaxNet now gives audio engineers greater control and flexibility than they’ve ever had before in managing IFB audio, timecode, metadata, and remote control signals,” said Glenn Sanders, Zaxcom’s president. “To give television and film productions the broadest wireless capabilities available for transmitting and receiving production audio, we designed this network to be truly interoperable among our entire suite of sound recorders, transmitters, and receivers.” ZaxNet will be available for all current Zaxcom hardware via a free software update. For a demonstration of ZaxNet, visit Zaxcom at IBC2009, stand 8.D79. To learn more about Zaxcom’s full line of audio systems, visit www.zaxcom.com. # # # About Zaxcom, Inc. Zaxcom’s Announces ZaxNet RF Network for Wireless Distribution of Production Audio Remote Control and Metadata Press Releases POMPTON PLAINS, N.J.  —  March 31, 2009  —  Zaxcom, a pioneering provider of professional audio equipment, today announced a display screen upgrade for the company’s popular Deva and Fusion audio recording systems.  Three times as bright as existing Deva displays, the new screen allows for easier control in any environment.  The additional luminance allows audio professionals to view and adjust all of Deva settings — such as scene, take, note, and roll number metadata — quickly and easily, even in direct bright sunlight. “Our audio recorders are used in a full range of applications, from feature film productions to on-the-go reality TV programming, and are almost always required to perform under extreme time pressure.  We understand how crucial it is that our Deva and Fusion systems are as intuitive and user-friendly as possible, regardless of the environment,” said Glenn Sanders, Zaxcom’s President.  “The new super-luminance display screen will help our customers respond more quickly to demands and changing conditions on the set.  All new Deva and Fusion systems will now ship with this brighter display screen, and the upgrade is available to existing users as well.” Zaxcom’s Deva family provides multi-disk, multi-track, multi-format recording on location, with automatic backup to DVD-RAM or CompactFlash®.  With the ability to background-record multiple disks throughout a day, Deva users are able to save time in feature film and television productions by recording disk copies required for Post Production while the original recordings are being created.  Production staff can reference previous recordings immediately on-set, thereby reducing potential conflicts with Post, while also safeguarding against lost, damaged or stolen material with automatically generated backup copies. The Fusion audio recorder and mixer combines the strengths of the Deva’s feature set with low weight and superior power efficiency by eliminating the use of a hard drive, which additionally removes concerns of hard drive damage from extreme temperature or motion.  The system records to two CompactFlash® cards simultaneously, ensuring 100 percent solid-state recording for purposes of redundancy and flexibility.
